More Than Just Music

ShaneTheDJ combines the energy and experience of a nightclub DJ with the kind of Newfoundland party where everyone from 6 to 96 can have a good time.

I’ve been a DJ for more than 30 years and have been providing DJ services for weddings and private events throughout Newfoundland & Labrador for over 18 years. Music is still at the heart of what I do, but these days there’s often a lot more to an event than simply showing up and playing music.

From the Ceremony to the Last Song

For weddings, my work can begin well before the reception.

Ceremony sound is a big part of what I do. That can include music for the ceremony, professional wireless microphones for the officiant and wedding party, and a separate sound system that can even operate on battery power when the ceremony is outdoors or away from electrical service.

Once everyone moves inside, good audio remains just as important. Speeches need to be heard clearly. If there’s a video or slideshow to be shown, it needs the proper sound, screen and projection equipment. Live musicians may need to be connected to a sound system. Sometimes an event simply needs a PA system and someone who knows how to operate it.

ShaneTheDJ can provide all of that.

And Yes, There’s Still the Music

I’ve spent more than three decades behind the decks, from nightclub DJing to weddings and private events.

Music is mixed live, requests are welcome, and my collection covers everything from golden oldies through today’s music, along with Newfoundland & Labrador favourites, Irish music and plenty more.

I also put a lot of thought into cocktail and dinner music. This isn’t your standard playlist of Kenny G playing quietly in the corner. Those parts of the day deserve some attention too.

When the dance starts, I’m just as comfortable playing to a room full of different ages as I am mixing a set for a nightclub crowd. That’s one of the things I’ve always enjoyed about DJing in Newfoundland — you never know exactly where the night is going to take you.

Sound, Lighting, AV & Photobooth

Along with DJ and ceremony services, ShaneTheDJ can provide wireless microphones, PA systems, lighting and uplight audio support, and sound for live music.

Photobooth service is also available, including our own 3D-printed props made right here in Newfoundland.

Professional equipment from Pioneer DJ, Denon DJ, Shure, Yorkville and other established manufacturers is used throughout.

And this isn’t limited to weddings. ShaneTheDJ is available for corporate functions, birthdays, retirements, fundraisers, graduations, school events, nightclub events, kitchen parties and other occasions where good music, good sound — or both — are needed.

After more than 30 years, the idea is still pretty simple: make sure people can hear what they’re supposed to hear, and when it’s time for music, make sure there’s something worth listening to.
